The Giant Chair Wooden Chair

Location: A massive chair of wood was built on Dartmoor but sadly had to be taken down.

Happening on the giant chair on a winter's day with patches of snow on the path it looked almost alien.

Despite being made of wood, a natural material, the chair did not quite belong in the landscape. It's size made it literally stand out but the fact it was so obviously man made but not ancient like standing stones made it stand out more.

After a wintery walk we went for a meal at the White Hart in Mortenhampstead, so I always think of that winter's day and seeing the giant chair when I visit Mortenhampstead now.

The chair was striking and had a simple beauty so I was sorry to learn it ahd gone.
